First know it does take about 10-12hrs to kick in. But...when it does, I suppose it works by (eew) partially liquiefying what you ate, then shooting out your digestive track. I didn't have cramping, but did cut a conversation short to 'go'.... 3 times! The last time was literally the dinner I ate the night before, including undigested spaghetti. I know it sounds gross, but that's what happens. As far as weight loss..don't see dramatic results yet, but I only wanted to lose a few pounds anyway. I think it would be obvious to most folks, that b/c of it's 'laxative' effect, it is for use here and there. Certainly not for long term weight control as I can't imagine your colon likes prolonged 'irritation'. I found the tea to taste like all the other teas I drink. I normally drink tea w/out sugar or milk so this was just fine for me. Overall, I do like how it works, but, again- not for long term use.
