I have had My Passport almost 2 years now and it is just what I wanted. I do a backup of my home computer and a backup of my work computer then carry the Passport in my purse. It is compact and I now have no worries about losing my pictures!

NOT blue. Auqua. New? I opened completely without tearing or cutting anything. Used and not blue as advertised. I loved the navy blue in the pictures. Too bad the advertiser knowingly lied about the product. Why isn't there a law against product fraud? Or is there? I want the NEW Navy blue 250 WD external HD that I paid for. I want a refund. I should not have to work to get it. They lied. They should pay the penalty for lying.

I have been a technology professional for over 17 years, with the majority of my career focused on software; however, it is incumbent upon any software professional to be hardware savvy. I have worked almost exclusively for Fortune companies with high technical environmental standards. For me to say I do not have hardware knowledge would be similar to saying that I have a good travel agent, but this travel agent isn't familiar with how various hotel chains rate.

Western Digital is a familiar name in the computer hardware industry and buying a WD drive seemed like a safe bet. WD is a US based company with reported 2010 revenue of 9.850 billion, their slogan is "Put your life on it" so they must believe in their products.

What I thought was my trusty Passport Elite external drive failed without any warning, kind of like a car breaking down without any warning, you have some resentment when this happens. This hard drive is JUST out of warranty and if this can fail without any warning of any kind, it can happen to anybody. Think twice before you purchase WD products, I would recommend a decent competitor name, Sony or Toshiba and doing your research as much as possible.
